Whispered interpretation is a mode of simultaneous interpreting done without interpreting equipment.
The interpreter sits or stands directly next to a maximum of two participants. Interpretation of the speech is then simultaneously and softly whispered. The process is suitable only for interpreting two languages, as the original speaker and interpreter speak at the same time in close proximity.
Unavoidable extraneous noise is experienced by all participants, which can be quite stressful. Consequently, this mode of interpreting is always done in pairs.
