As a rule, interpretation for witnesses or the accused is usually whispered during legal proceedings. Legal interpreting for the court is done consecutively.

A court interpreter must maintain absolute neutrality. The interpreter gives an unbiased, accurate oral translation in the target language of the speaker's and the court representative's original meaning, complete and in the same style as that of the speaker.

As a sworn interpreter for the Bulgarian language (Mannheim and Berlin regional courts), I am of course obliged to keep all documents entrusted to me strictly confidential.
